
Michael Quain spent 28 years at sea, mostly in chemical tankers, including 11 years as Master. Following this, and during 13 years of shore based activity, he has worked in tanker chartering & operations and, as marine safety & quality manager; he headed the marine department of a large ship manager with responsibility as DPA for the safety management of up to 40 ships. He has been an accredited OCIMF SIRE Category 1 inspector for oil, chemical and gas vessels since.
Michael is a member of the Nautical Institute, Honourable Company of Master Mariners and the Royal Institute of Navigation; he is also a Younger Brother of Trinity House.
He is a keen sportsman and can be regularly found in the front row of Limassol Crusaders Rugby Football club in Cyprus where he is now based. He also holds a black belt in Tae Kwon do.
