Gordon Mackay

Gordon’s early career at sea to the rank of 2nd Engineer was with Mobil shipping. Later he was promoted to Chief Engineer sailed on various vessels in the broader industry.

Following his sea-going career, he served as an engineering surveyor with Lloyd's Register, before taking a position as a Superintendent Engineer with responsibility for a wide variety of vessels, new building programs, budgets and repair programs.

For 3 years Gordon lectured Class 1 Deck & Engineering students at South Tyneside College in the UK, including the updating of STCW95 endorsements for petroleum and gas vessels. There followed a 2 year period as Fleet Manager with a major ship management company, before he became a consultant engineer.

His accreditation as an OCIMF SIRE Category 1 inspector covers all types of vessel and, being based in the North East of the UK is able to cover work in that area and can easily travel throughout Europe.
